ACADEMIC LANGUAGE THERAPY ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION

    • Foundation Facts

The ALTA Foundation is a philanthropic affiliate of the Academic Language Therapy Association. It is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt organization established in 1998 to provide financial support to ALTA in an effort to educate professional Academic Language Therapists in the most current research-based information, strategies and techniques in both therapeutic and classroom settings.  The Foundation operates as a separate charitable entity. Gifts to the Foundation are tax deductible and may be given to the general fund or designated for a special use. It is governed by its own board of directors.  Please consider a gift to the general fund or designate a gift to one of the following:

    • Aylett Royall Cox Memorial Scholarship Fund

The ALTA Foundation has established a scholarship in memory of Aylett Royall Cox, recipient of the prestigious Samuel T. Orton Award presented at the 28th Annual Conference of the Orton Dyslexia Society in 1977.  The scholarship will continue to pay tribute to her extraordinary work.  The ALTA Foundation is grateful for the opportunity to recognize someone of significant importance to our field.  This scholarship has been made possible due to the generous donations received in her memory.  Applications are available for teaching level and therapy level training.

    • I Believe In Myself Award

The ALTA Foundation supports programs that enhance the self-esteem of students with dyslexia.  In keeping with that philosophy, the Foundation has established the Joan Hogge I Believe in Myself Award.  The I Believe in Myself Award is available to students of ALTA members in third grade and up.  Applicants will submit a short essay explaining why art is important in their life.  A committee will judge the essay and the award winner will be announced at the ALTA annual spring conference.  ALTA member, Joan Hogge, has generously provided a donation towards art lessons during the following summer.
