For Professionals
The Academic Language Therapy Association (ALTA) is organized exclusively for the purpose of establishing, maintaining, and promoting standards of education, practice, and professional conduct for Certified Academic Language Therapists who are trained to teach students with dyslexia and/or related disorders.
ALTA was the first national group organized solely for written-language professionals. ALTA's purpose is to establish, maintain, and promote high standards of education, practice, and conduct for the profession of academic language therapy. The Association offers a variety of important services both for its members and for the community:
Membership Services - national registry, journal, newsletter, website, professional education
Community Services - referral helpline (telephone and online), speakers' bureau, scholarships, information
It is the intent of the Academic Language Therapy Association that Certified Academic Language Therapists be universally recognized as highly qualified specialists who have met uniform standards of professional post-baccalaureate education, and that the credentials conferred by ALTA will assure the public and other professionals of the competence, integrity, and professionalism of Certified Academic Language Therapists.
