You know the guy who sends you your membership card, and who always brings those great cookies to the office potlucks. Well, it is time to renew your membership to ALTA. And we have made a couple of changes to better serve our members. I came up with all of them. Except for those changes listed below that you really hate. Those were the brainchild of the other guy on the board of directors. What was he thinking? Some of the changes are not exactly new, but a friendly reminder never hurts. When is the deadline to renew?Membership renewal is payable on or before March 31, 2012. Dues received after then will be assessed a 25% late fee. Membership renewal is now electronicRenewal letters are being sent via e‐mail this year, and all forms can be completed electronically on the ALTA website. Simply click the link above to do so. Any accompanying documentation can be scanned and emailed to ALTA headquarters. You might be thinking, "Hold it buddy! I want to do it the old way."Put down the stapler and walk away from ledge. Take a deep breath. There is no need for concern. You can simply print off the renewal form from the links below. See everything is ok. Do I need to sign for CEUs or turn in any proof? Please explain continuing education requirements in more detail. All ALTA members must compile 10 CEU contact hours annually. In order to renew your membership as a CALT or CALP, you must affirm that you have complied with this requirement by entering your CEUs in the CEU verification form and signing where indicated. It is not necessary to send in proof of compliance. However, ALTA members are responsible for retaining proof of CEUs in the event of future audit. NOTE: New CALTs and CALPs certified after March 1, 2011 will need to provide CEU documentation with their second membership renewal year (2013-14). QIs and ICALPs must provide documentation of 10 contact hours of CEU credit each year when renewing membership. Documentation must include the form entitled, "CEU Membership Verification Form" and copies of your certificated of attendance from ALTA approved events. Unused hours from 2009-2011 audits may be used, but documentation must be resubmitted. For a complete listing of ALTA CEU Requirements, please click here. NOTE: All ALTA members will begin documenting 10 CEU contact hours of CEU credit each year, effective with this year's membership (2011-12); however, exceptions to this will be members who were certified after March 1, 2010. CEU requirements for these new members will begin with their second renewal period. Find‐A‐Therapist is now free to all ALTA members! In an effort to better serve our membership and the community, the Find‐A‐Therapist section of the ALTA website is now a benefit provided free of charge to all ALTA members at the QI, CALT, ICALP and CALP levels. Find‐A‐Therapist gets a name changeThe name of the Find‐A‐Therapist area of the ALTA website has been changed to the Directory of Certified Members to better represent the ever changing nature of our membership. What the heck is the Directory of Certified Members area of the ALTA website you askedGreat question, thanks for asking. It is an area of the ALTA website that the public can search in order to find ALTA members to contact in hopes of finding someone qualified to meet their educational needs or the needs of a loved one struggling with dyslexia or other related reading disorders. Sounds great sign me up!Wonderful, simply check the corresponding box on your membership renewal form indicating that you would like to be listed in the Directory of Certified Members. Then fill in the requested information on the accompanying the Directory of Certified Members information form. Submit your form and your information will be listed in the Directory of Certified Members area of the ALTA website. Wait a minute! I don't want to be listed in the Directory of Certified Members area of the ALTA website! Not a problem. Simply leave that box unchecked and do not fill out the corresponding form. Send in your renewal form and everything will be just fine. See that wasn't hard at all. Well that is a relief! But does that mean that other ALTA members will not be able to find me? Didn't we used to get a snazzy paper members directory? You know something real that came in the mail and I could touch?Yeah, the other guy on the board got rid of the paper version of the member directory. But I made sure that we had a password protected area of the ALTA website that listed the same information. This saves trees. This saves ALTA money. This reduces the amount of clutter on your desk. You know who you are. Timothy Odegard, PhD 2012-2013 Printable Membership Renewal FormsEach of these printable forms are provided in Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat formats.
